Smelt is named after the Rainbow Smelt (Osmerus mordax), a forage fish with translucent livery and iridescent reflections.
The livery is built on pearlescent sides and slight interferences, visible as the angle of light changes. The chromatic inspiration also recalls the Wakasagi (Hypomesus nipponensis), with which it shares a clear, silvery, and translucent appearance typical of smelts. In water, it remains bright and natural, designed to imitate small forage fish without appearing artificial.
