Offset Hooks

HOW TO RIG THE KITARA

Very often, especially for beginners, rigging soft baits can be anything but trivial.

Let's look together, with this simple guide, how to get the best from our Kitaras and start fishing in an instant!

One of the rigs that we would like to recommend is certainly the one with an offset hook and cheburashka lead.

Let's start with the choice of hooks.

The offset hook allows the barb to be hidden inside the softbait itself, reducing the risk of snags and making it possible to fish in areas that predators very often prefer - submerged obstacles, stones, grass beds, reed beds, etc. ..

How do we rig an offset hook?

Although it may seem complicated at first, with a little practice you will surely be able to have perfect rigs that will enhance the movement of your silicone baits.

First of all, let's select the size of the hook best suited to our Kitara.

For ideal movement, a size that covers between a third and half of the bait is perfect.

Leave enough space between the internal curve of the hook and the belly of the Kitara - when the fish bites the soft bait will slide on the shank of the hook, revealing the barb. A distance equal to about half the thickness of the bait is a good compromise.

We recommend using the VMC TEXAN SUPER LIGHT offset hooks:

- 3.75" Kitara: 2/0#

- 3" Kitara: 1#

- 2.5" Kitara: 2#

- 2" Kitara: 4#

Let's proceed with the rigging!

1. We insert the barb into the center of the Kitara's head

2. Let the tip come out, centrally , approximately the space that the "L" of our hook occupies.

3. We slide the softbait up to our "L" and at this point we turn the body 180 degrees on the hook axis! We will therefore have the head of the rubber that touches our eyelet and the body that entirely occupies the space of the "L".

4. We take the measurement of the point of the Kitara from where the barb will come out.

5. We insert the hook centrally into the point we just took and let it come out from the opposite side, always centrally.

6. Congratulations, a perfect rig!
